Description
Wooden Atmos clock, walnut veneers, J.L. Reutter,model LG I, No 602, France circa 1930. Movement in wooden case veneered with walnut and ivory, built in Art Deco, gilded dial with Arabic numerals, signed Atmos Pendule Perpetuelle, Brevets J.L.Reutter. With the original Atmos clockwork.
Fully original, just a minor flaw at the hour hand with will be repaired.

The drum of the clock contains a mercury- and gas tube. Changes in weather conditions in particular temperature causes volumes changes. This generates a thermic in the barrel. The fluctuations and rotations are collected and the energy is used to drive the movement continuously. It is therefore called Pendule Perpétuelle. The invention was made by a French engineer, Jean Leon Reutter. Exceptional timepiece style wise with advanced engineering.
