Description
Rare Atmos clock in wooden cabinet , J.L. Reutter, France circa 1930. Cabinet in Art Deco style. Champagne colored dial with daggerJ.L. Reutter numerals, signed Atmos Pendule Perpetuelle, made in Paris, Brevets J. L. Reutter. With the original Atmos clockwork.

The drum of the clock contains a mercury- and gas tube. Changes in weather conditions in particular temperature causes volumes changes. This generates a thermic in the barrel. The fluctuations and rotations are collected and the energy is used to drive the movement continuously. It is therefore called Pendule Perpétuelle. The invention was made by a French engineer, Jean Leon Reutter.
