Description

A pair of fire-gilt Empire candlesticks on rounded bases. The tapering stems stand on three pairs of feet and are decorated with a pattern of spiralling bands. At the top of each candlestick’s stem are three female busts, possibly representing the Vestal Virgins, who visually support the vase-shaped candleholder.
